KiloMate vs MyFitnessPal
MyFitnessPal is the biggest calorie counter in the world and has a huge food database and native apps. KiloMate is a smaller Australian app that shows kJ and calories together, puts Australian barcodes and fast-food menus first, and has a lifting log. If you want an app built around Australian labels, try KiloMate. If you want the largest database and a native app today, MyFitnessPal is the safer pick. Compared on 25 October 2026.

Where MyFitnessPal is ahead
Size and polish. It has native iPhone and Android apps now, a food database far bigger than anything KiloMate searches, and extras like voice logging and meal scanning on its paid plan. KiloMate is newer and its iPhone and Android apps aren't out yet.
Where KiloMate is built differently
Australian labels are in kJ, so KiloMate shows kJ and calories side by side everywhere. Barcode search puts Australian products first. Fast-food items come from each chain's own Australian nutrition information, with swaps like a different bun or no sauce where the chain publishes the breakdown. Food, lifts and weekly weigh-ins sit in one app, so you don't juggle a lifting log and a calorie counter.
Not sure what to aim for? The calorie calculator, macro calculator and kJ converter are free, no sign-up. Browse fast-food calories to see the menu data.
Questions
Is KiloMate a good MyFitnessPal alternative in Australia?
If you want kJ and calories side by side, Australian supermarket barcodes first, Australian fast-food menus and a lifting log in the same app, KiloMate is built for that. If you need the biggest possible food database or a native iPhone or Android app today, MyFitnessPal is ahead for now.
Does KiloMate have a native app?
Not yet. KiloMate is free on the web at kilomate.com.au/app, and iPhone and Android apps are coming soon.
How much is MyFitnessPal Premium?
At 25 October 2026 its premium page listed $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month with a 7-day trial, with no Australian-dollar price shown. Check myfitnesspal.com for the current price.
Where does KiloMate's food data come from?
Packaged foods come from Open Food Facts, an open database. Fast-food figures come from each chain's published Australian nutrition information. Whole foods come from FSANZ's Australian Food Composition Database. If a source doesn't publish a value, KiloMate shows it as unknown.
Can I log lifts in KiloMate?
Yes. Log sets with last time's numbers filled in, a marker when you beat them, saved and planned workouts and a progress chart for each exercise.
KiloMate is made by Sabea Tech, so we have an interest here. We've kept to facts we could check on each product's own pages. MyFitnessPal is a trademark of its owner; KiloMate isn't affiliated with it.
